As part of its ongoing faculty development seminar series, Shalem College joined with the lecturers at Ein Prat—The Leadership Academy on December 20th, 2012, to share insights and ideas about teaching the liberal arts in Israel. Ein Prat, a pluralistic Beit Midrash in Kfar Adumim, graduates hundreds of students each year.

Daniel Gordis’s Book on Jewish Law and Conversion Selected as Finalist for 2012 National Jewish Book Award
The Jewish Book Council has selected Pledges of Allegiance: Conversion, Law, and Policymaking in Nineteenth and Twentieth-Century Orthodox Responsa (Stanford, 2011), co-authored by Shalem Senior Vice President and Koret Distinguished Fellow Daniel Gordis and Hebrew Union College President Rabbi David Ellenson, as a finalist in the Scholarship category of the 2012 National Jewish Book Awards.
Bernard Lewis donates part of extensive personal library to Shalem College
Influential scholar of Islam Professor Bernard Lewis visited Shalem on January 14 to tour the site of the college library, future home of part of his extensive personal book collection on the Middle East.
