Considered part of Israel’s socio-economic periphery, the Galilee is nonetheless home to sizeable academic, agricultural, and industrial communities. If they can bring their knowledge and know-how together, believes Tomer Swissa ’20, they can build an innovation system “that will one day rival Tel Aviv’s.” Sound far-fetched? The director of industry innovation and international relations for the newly established Kinneret Innovation Center, Swissa doesn’t think so. And he’s got nearly 70 partnerships, active pilots, and innovative processes since in just one year to prove it.
