Dr. Yusri Hazran

Middle East & Islamic Studies

Dr. Yusri Hazran is a research fellow at the Harry S. Truman Institute for the Advancement of Peace at the Hebrew University and a senior lecturer in the Department of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies at Shalem College. His main area of specialization is the politico-cultural history of the Fertile Crescent.

Dr. Hazran received his Ph.D. from the Hebrew University, after which he was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship at Harvard University. The author of numerous articles, Dr. Hazran is also the author of The Druze Community and the Lebanese State: Between Resistance and Reconciliation (Routledge, 2014). Currently he is completing a second book on Israel’s efforts to create an alliance with ethnic and religious minorities in the Arab Middle East.
